I'll typically only use AAs for my Xbox controllers in a pinch, and I do try to invest in separate rechargeable battery kits for most of my accessories when I can. This is why I was very interested in checking out Razer's recently released Forza Horizon 5 limited edition universal quick charging stand, which the peripheral company sent over for review. It retails for $49.99, a $10 upcharge from its siblings that link up with less limited controller color schemes. This is my 3rd controller after starting gaming at 59yrs old, (2yrs PS1&2 in my 30's).
1st-Logitech, upgraded to MS due to re overwhelming reviews and after returning 2 controllers due to faults I saw a review of this. It's a sensational improvement on previous ones and superbly designed & built. This is the most comprehensive review I've ever written but I felt compelled to share the details because the product warrants it. Don't even think about a wire as being less convenient than wireless, I no longer have to repeatedly charge batteries and it's always on. Unless the MS Elite is a fundamentally better device I can't see me changing this or looking beyond the Razer brand.
Forza Horizon 5 is actually here, and players are finally able to explore Mexico behind the wheel of their favorite car. While Forza Horizon 5 makes waves as the best Xbox racing game right now, its Xbox Wireless Controller counterpart is turning heads as one of the most tantalizing limited-edition gaming accessories in recent memory. After unboxing it and getting my hands on its racing-inspired rubberized grips, it didn't take long to fall in love with this controller. The Forza Horizon 5 Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller is certainly a mouthful, but this accessory is pretty enough that I almost feel bad about using it to speed around Mexico. Even though racing against the clock can get stressful at times, the cartoonish graphics and breezy mechanics make it a lighthearted party game that's great whether you're playing local or online multiplayer. While nearly double the price of the Xbox wireless controller, we once dubbed it the best Xbox controller you can buy. We loved how customizable it is, as well features like the adjustable-tension thumbsticks, the paddles for custom button mapping, and the shorter hair-trigger locks. The controller also offers USB-C and Bluetooth connectivity, and great battery life whether you're playing on an Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or Windows 10 device.
In fact, we were able to enjoy roughly 40 hours of playtime on a single charge. Nobody Saves the World is a action-adventure game that's all about transformation. The main character, Nobody, gains access to a bunch of unique forms they can transform into–such as a ghost, a knight, a mouse, and over a dozen more. You mix and match forms and abilities to create new character builds to carry you through the game's procedurally generated dungeons. Along with the dungeons, there's also an overworld populated with unique characters, many of whom have side quests for you to take on to unlock new forms.
These gameplay systems coalesce into an addictive loop where you take on quests to unlock new forms for your arsenal, thus completing more dungeons, which unlock more quests… you get the idea. Between its amazing visuals, myriad gameplay options, and bevy of content, Forza Horizon 5 is a racing game that anyone can enjoy. From a technical standpoint, it's remarkable what the team at Playground Games achieved–everything from the meticulously detailed vehicle models to the lush virtual recreations of Mexico's landscapes are visually engrossing.. Unlike the simulation-heavy Forza Motorsport line, the Forza Horizon series lean towards arcade racing, emphasizing player freedom in vast open worlds.
Forza Horizon 5 doubles down on the philosophy, letting players focus on the type of experience they want–be that tense races against other players, single-player challenges and story content, or just chilling out and cruising the open road. It's built on top of Call of Duty's signature high-octane action and low-recoil gunplay, well balanced to allow PC players to team up with friends on consoles.
Individual locations on the map have their own personality, and some are even based on existing maps from the Call of Duty series. It means that no matter where you're fighting, whether it's on a giant ice lake or the bunkers of a military base, the environment presents you with tons of tactical options. You can play solo, duos, trios or in four-player squads; trios feels like the sweet spot.
Inside the box you get the charging stand, a decent quality USB-A to USB-C cable, one rechargeable battery, as well as two separate battery covers to fit either an Xbox One controller or an Xbox Series X|S controller. You can plug the stand into virtually anything with a proper USB port, including an Xbox console or a gaming PC. Alyx is the best VR game to date, and feels like a proper evolution of Half-Life 2, one of the greatest shooters of all time. It combines a gripping, emotional story with the most detailed level design you've ever seen.
Sometimes, that's incidental – when you're opening draws, crushing cardboard boxes or plucking bottles of vodka from shelves – but often, it's central to progression. At one point, you must cover your mouth to stop Alyx coughing as you sneak past a blind monster, for example. This level of interaction makes the whole game feel alive, and makes you feel like a very real part of it. Mass Effect Andromeda was a dud, but the original three games are still our go-to RPG trilogy. No other series has got us as invested in its characters, and some storylines span all three games, running for hundreds of hours on end.
The sci-fi setting, with its varied cities, planets and ships, is endlessly cool, and missions never feel repetitive, but it's the crew you assemble, and the way Commander Shepherd interacts with them, that makes it stand out. You're given weighty decisions to make that can literally decide the fate of whole space species, so it really feels like you're leaving your stamp on the galaxy. The car, especially, is a fantastic addition to anyone's car collection, and looks right at home on the Forza Horizon 5 car list. Capcom's Monster Hunter franchise had a niche market in North America before Monster Hunter World became a massive mainstream hit. While Monster Hunter World still follows the series' signature loop–track and eventually slay larger-than-life monsters–it makes great strides in terms of map design and combat.
The vast majority of your quests could be considered boss battles, and due to the dynamic nature of the foes you encounter, World always manages to remain fresh. It's a deeply rewarding game filled with a plethora of customization options and playstyles. It's definitely better when playing with friends, but you can still complete the lengthy adventure solo. Though it's not on Game Pass, the Iceborne expansion is well worth diving into after you finish the base campaign. Supergiant's masterpiece of intense action, exquisite storytelling, and innovative design finally made the leap to Xbox this year, and if you have a Game Pass subscription, this is one game that's both recommended and required on any console.
Dragon Quest 11 is one of the best entries in the long-running Square Enix series. It's a traditional JRPG through and through, with turn-based battles and an epic save-the-world story starring an unlikely hero. While Dragon Quest 11 doesn't necessarily take any big risks, it's a masterpiece within a genre that isn't nearly as prevalent as it once was. That alone makes Dragon Quest 11 a wonderful game for those who yearn for JRPGs similar to those from the late '90s and early 2000s.
With a colorful art design, brilliant turn-based gameplay, and a large world inhabited by interesting characters, Dragon Quest 11 is immensely satisfying and dutifully scratches the JRPG itch. While Monster Hunter World still follows the series' signature loop--track and eventually slay larger-than-life monsters--it makes great strides in terms of map design and combat. That alone makes Dragon Quest 11 a wonderful game for those who yearn for JRPGs similar to those from the late '90s and early 2000s. It can feel overwhelming to new players, but the depth of its roster means you're bound to find your groove. Each operator has a role to play, whether you're a marksman, a demolitions expert or just a muscly man with a giant hammer, and out-thinking your opponents feels as good as out-gunning them.
Ubisoft continue to support Siege with regular new maps and operators, and improved tools for new players, as well as an unranked playlist that was added last year, means there's no better time to pull the trigger. During the golden age for indie games that was the last decade, everyone seemed to be playing Spelunky, a roguelike that was notorious for being tough as nails but also rich with hidden secrets and opportunities for fun emergent gameplay. It's big, procedurally generated tombs are still full of traps and monsters out to kill you. To make dying less frustrating than its predecessor, you now start at a hub that allows you to choose what biome you tackle next, which helps with variety. Speaking of variety – there's a host of all-new enemies, a much larger world including an area filled with lava, and mounts that will die in gruesome ways for you as they help you get ahead.
Once again one of the most successful Playstation-exclusive games has found its way to PC and -you can all exhale now – it's a great port. God of War isn't only an incredible tech showcase thanks to its looks and world with no loading screens, but also a carefully told story of fatherhood and a robust action game. In order to do this, you not only need to familiarise yourself with your target's routines Hitman-style, you also need to learn the ins and outs of each section.
Arkane once again delivers on great level design, so that there's plenty to explore. The gunplay feels amazing, and is in typical Arkane style bolstered by a selection of meaningful skills to give you an edge in a fight. This is a time loop game that allows you to retain enough in terms of equipment and progress that things don't get frustrating. There's a lot to see in Deathloop, and while it refines systems you'll recognize from other games, it's another uniquely Arkane affair – executed with style and deeply satisfying throughout.
Bungie's co-op shooter had a rough start to life, but it's getting better and better with each expansion. It's a sumptuous, arrestingly gorgeous thing that most importantly retains its enthusiast's heart under the graphical showcase, and that does its level best to make a car enthusiast out of anyone in its orbit. The genre's now too broad and too varied to make such a statement, though Gran Turismo finds itself a neat slot alongside the likes of Assetto Corsa and iRacing, presenting accessible driving that looks simply staggering. If you've invested in a Forza Horizon 5 controller, I think this matching charging stand is a no-brainer.
I'm not exactly thrilled about the $10 limited edition tax, but the paired aesthetics look stunning. Plus, you'll be saving money on AAs, probably enough to pay for the stand in the long run. The device is exactly what it sounds like — a combination display and charging dock for practically all modern Xbox controllers, though this specific one is tied to Microsoft's recent racing megahit and its accompanying limited edition gamepad. Tunic, the long-awaited adventure starring a fox with a sword, is more than just a great Zelda-like.
While it harks back to old-school Zelda games in terms of not guiding players toward the objectives, Tunic has its own approach to creating mystery and intrigue. All throughout the world you'll find pages of an instruction manual–really does look like one that would've been packaged with a game in the early '90s–that you have to piece together to learn about the world around you. It does a wonderful job replicating the thrill of discovery found in early Zelda games. Tunic is much harder than Zelda games from a combat perspective, but overcoming each challenge feels like a great triumph.
Plus, any combat pains you may have are made worthwhile by gorgeous world that is a joy to explore. Slay the Spire marries deck-building with roguelike systems to create one of the best indies in recent years. Throughout your journey up the Spire, you square off against monsters, uncover treasures, and expand your deck of cards. Slay the Spire's card-based combat is easy to get the hang of but requires trial and error to find success.
While you have to start back at the beginning each time you die, you gradually earn new cards, which help you advance further the next time. It's an intoxicating loop that makes it easy to want to try "one more time" before putting down the controller. Each of Slay the Spire's four playable characters have unique decks, adding a ton of incentive to brave the Spire for subsequent runs after the credits roll. Slay the Spire's card-based combat is easy to get the hang of but requires trial and error to find success. We'd be remiss not to include both games in Moon Studios' incredible Ori series.
Ori and the Blind Forest and its 2020 sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps are two of the best platformers available on Xbox. Both have stunning visuals and tell emotionally gripping stories that feed off of the atmosphere and well-drawn characters. While they are similar in terms of aesthetic and feel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps is more action-oriented, whereas the Blind Forest largely focuses on platforming and exploration. The Will of the Wisps gives Ori new abilities that help them square off against daunting bosses.
Both games are brilliant in their own right, and are must-play platformers on Xbox. You should play them in order to get the full emotional weight of the story. Supergiant's masterpiece of intense action, exquisite storytelling, and innovative design finally made the leap to Xbox this year, and if you have a Game Pass subscription, this is one game that's both recommended and required on any console. One of Microsoft's newest exclusives, Gears Tactics cleverly applies the aesthetic and atmosphere of the franchise to a tactics game.
Despite being a totally different genre, Gears Tactics still feels like a natural addition to the iconic franchise thanks to sound mechanics and great level design. Many of the notable Gears of War gameplay systems and quirks are adapted into the top-down tactical spin on the genre. With a meaningful progression system, deep but approachable tactical encounters, and a number of great boss battles, Gears Tactics is a can't-miss experience for Gears aficionados and strategy game fans alike. Whether it's designing your own cars and courses or hurtling down cliff sides in trick races, there is plenty to do, see and collect in Forza Horizon 5, an exhilarating racing experience for everyone. Customisation isn't new to Gran Turismo, but it's certainly being handled in a different way upon its return.
It's more simulation-based, in short, which also means there are more tangible results from your tinkering, so you'll feel the benefit of those carbon brake discs you put on to counteract turbo that's sending you around at silly speeds. It's never as freeform as Forza, and there aren't quite as many options here to boot, but it's nicely focussed and what's there has an impact. Cloud gaming isn't a huge issue for either the PS5 or the Xbox Series X, since you can simply download games and play them natively on either platform. But as cloud gaming grows over the next few years, it's good to know where each company stands at the outset of this console generation. NexiGo's PS5 bundle comes with a cooling system, a powerful charger, and a headphone stand all in a sleek charging station.
You can adjust the cooling system to low, medium, and high as per your needs. If you have PS5 disc edition, you can place up to 10 game discs on the rack. You need a bunch of peripheral items to elevate your gaming experience. Of course, a good pair of headphones is a must and so are the controllers. A charging station, headphone stand, a cooling system, and maybe a media remote will make your life so much easier and more organized. Our range of Xbox accessories is the place to go to find all the extras and spares you need for your console.
Our Xbox accessories include a big range of headsets and controllers, as well as figurines, racing wheels, chargers and a heap more. To take this to the next level, you'll need to add the Razer Forza Horizon 5 themed charging stand. The splattered spray paint pattern perfectly carries over to the stand for a beautifully cohesive display. Able to fully charge your controller in under 3 hours, the stand is also designed with overcharge protection to prevent overheating and short circuiting.
